Paintings in Hospitals, in partnership with uclh arts and heritage and The HELP Portfolio, presents: Art, Compassion and Collective Action, a virtual panel discussion exploring how together these partners have ensured that art continues to support wellbeing throughout the Covid pandemic.

Art, Compassion and Collective Action panellists will include: Sue Arrowsmith, artist; Sandra Bruce-Gordon FRSA, Director and Chief Executive at Paintings in Hospitals; Nicky Hirst, artist; Dario Illari, Founder of Jealous Gallery and Print Studio; Christian Mathews, art consultant and collector; Guy Noble, Arts Curator at UCLH. The panel will be hosted by Andrew Hochhauser QC, art collector and Chair of Paintings in Hospitals.

This event celebrates The HELP Portfolio Exhibition presented by Paintings in Hospitals and uclh arts and heritage at the Street Gallery, University College Hospital, between 28^th June - 18^th August 2021.

The HELP Portfolio was conceived and developed during the 2020 Covid lockdowns by artist Sue Arrowsmith, collector Christian Mathews, Jealous Gallery and Print Studio director Dario Illari, and Cristea Roberts Gallery director David Cleaton-Roberts. Sixteen artists donated a print edition to the portfolio, the sale of which continues to benefit sixteen charities selected by the artists involved.

The HELP Portfolio features prints by the iconic British designer Margaret Calvert OBE and artists Sue Arrowsmith, Jake and Dinos Chapman, Michael Craig-Martin CBE, Ian Davenport, Nicky Hirst, Idris Khan OBE, Chris Levine, Paul McDevitt, Elizabeth Magill, Annie Morris, Paul Morrison, Remi Rough, Yinka Shonibare CBE, Mathew Weir, and Paul Winstanley.

On Thursday 22^nd July 2021, Paintings in Hospitals will host this virtual panel discussion to uncover the ideas and ethos that brought The HELP Portfolio to life, as well as exploring the broader ways in which art has contributed to our physical, mental and social wellbeing throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.
