We're delighted to announce the appointment of Andrew Hochhauser QC as our new Chair. Andrew succeeds James Prichard who, after more than eight years as a trustee and six years as Chair, decided to step down.

At the end of 2017, Andrew Hochhauser QC was elected Chair of the Paintings in Hospitals Board of Trustees. Andrew takes over the role from James Prichard, who has been an outstanding Chair of the charity for over six years.

James said:

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Paintings in Hospitals, and I think I leave the charity in great shape with a fantastic team and energetic Board. With Andrew as Chair, there is no doubt that the charity will go from strength to strength.

Andrew is a barrister, a Deputy High Court Judge, a trustee of the V&A, a Governor of the University of the Arts London, a trustee of the National Aids Trust, Vice-Chairman of the Inns of Court College of Advocacy and is honorary Counsel to Westminster Abbey. James is Chairman and CEO of Agatha Christie Limited and will be stepping down from the Board of Trustees to focus on management of the literary and media rights to Agatha Christie's works around the world.

Andrew said:

Having been Vice Chair for five years, I am delighted to take on the role of Chair as we approach the charity’s 60th anniversary. Paintings in Hospitals is an exceptional charity, using art to inspire better health and wellbeing across the country. We have a talented team and a clear vision for the future. I look forward to playing my part in this next exciting chapter.

Ben Pearce, Director of Paintings in Hospitals, said “Our Trustees are vital to our long-term success as a charity. James has made an amazing contribution during the last six years as our Chair, and I want to thank him for all his support. I am very much looking forward to working with Andrew and the Board as Paintings in Hospitals approaches its 60th anniversary in 2019”.
