Anne Harild is a Danish artist based in London. She completed a residency with Paintings in Hospitals in 2013.

These works are stills from a film created in Anne’s studio, based on the ideas explored in workshops with the young patients from the Paediatric Department of St Mary’s Hospital, London. Space, the interplay between ‘inside’ and ‘outside’, and different shapes and materials are themes explored.

Anne added: “The environment in the film has explicit references to the architecture and the place that informed it.”

Anne worked with young patients aged between 12 and 17 years. Her aim was to enable young people to work with animation and to experience the therapeutic benefits that creative activity can provide. As a result, the patients created short films to record passing of time and the changes in their environment.
