Donating or loaning artworks to the Paintings in Hospitals Collection
Paintings in Hospitals has been established for 45 years and is a unique collection which continues to grow each year. The charity is very grateful for the generosity of artists and collectors willing to donate or loan in order to meet the demand for artwork. The Collection is divided into three parts:
- Main Collection: paintings, drawings, prints, photographs, mixed media and textile pieces available for hospitals to borrow for a small rental fee which contributes to the insurance and maintenance of the artworks.
- Prints for Hospices: original artists prints (not reproductions) available on free loan to hospices (maximum of 10 per hospice).
- Children's Collection: artworks that are appropriate for display in an environment for the younger patient which can vary from the care of babies to adolescents.
If you would like to make a donation or long term loan to the Paintings in Hospitals Collection, please read the following guidelines carefully:
- All work should be original, not reproduction. This excludes posters and mass produced prints. Paintings in Hospitals would welcome digitally generated work if it is part of a limited edition and signed by the artist.
- Style and content of the work needs to be considered in terms of the context of a healthcare environment and multicultural audience.
- 2-D work in any media including photography, textiles, wall hangings and relief sculpture that can be wall mounted is acceptable for the Collection, framed or unframed. We are unable to consider free-standing sculptural works or installations.
- Large works are of particular interest to us but generally should not exceed 72" x 72" (183cm x 183cm). Work smaller than 10" by 10" (25cm x 25cm) will not normally be considered.
