Volunteer your time

Paintings in Hospitals relies on the support of volunteers to continue its work. Volunteers provide invaluable help – contributing their time, skills and experience to benefit others in their community.

We need many different skills to help us in our work so whatever your qualifications, experience, or interests, there will be a role that suits you.

Most of our volunteers work with our collection, helping care for artworks and manage our regional displays. But you don’t need to be an expert to help as we can provide training.

Ways in which you can help

Specific opportunities will be listed above but from time to time we need extra help in the following areas of work.

Fundraising – Promoting our Friends Programme or helping with research.

Interpretation – helping research artists’ work and writing text labels.

Administration – writing minutes of meetings, helping us keep our database up-to-date etc.

Handling artworks – helping display artworks at our regional centres or prep and wrap artworks ready for transport.

Curating – helping keep the display of our art libraries fresh and stimulating for healthcare providers coming to view available artworks.

Collection care – carrying out condition checks of artworks returning from loan or out on loan.
