Big Draw artworks go on display in Surrey

Following the success of our fundraising campaign, 2 large drawings by world-famous illustrators Posy Simmonds and Michael Foreman have recently been loaned to a hospital in Surrey.

The two drawings have been on display near the paediatric ward of the hospital for a few weeks and have already brought warmth and reassurance to young patients, their staff and carers. “It brightens up the place and it’s created a lot of interest; a lot of people have been making positive comments.” - Consultant Paediatrician at the hospital.

Paintings in Hospitals was gifted the drawings as part of a series by The Campaign for Drawing and has been fundraising since 2010 to have them framed and displayed in a healthcare setting. The two works, both measuring 2 meters high and 3 meters long, were created during live-drawing events at the annual Big Draw organised by the Campaign for Drawing. Paintings in Hospitals made them accessible to healthcare providers through the Children and Young People Scheme and had them framed to conservation standards thanks to the generous support of John Jones.

We have another six drawings awaiting framing and our fundraising campaign continues.
