Paintings in Hospitals art auction gains amazing support

Paintings in Hospitals has defied the current financial climate by selling 95% of the lot featured in its annual fundraising art auction at Bonhams New Bond Street, London.
Attended by over 100 supporters, the evening was a huge success, generating much needed funds to develop the charity’s Children and Young People Loan Scheme.
The auction featured works donated by some of the most wonderful artists working in Britain today, with many new supporters such as Julian Opie, Ana Maria Pacheco, Lisa Milroy and Joe Tilson, alongside committed Paintings in Hospitals supporters such as Bridget Riley and Ian Davenport.
The funds raised from this year’s art auction will help to develop the Children and Young People Loan Scheme. This loan scheme allows healthcare sites to borrow from a collection of artworks specifically selected with children and teenagers in mind. In 2010 the charity could only afford to offer this service to benefit younger patients in the London area. With the money raised from this year’s auction we intend to provide access to the scheme to all healthcare sites across the UK.
